2023 Recap 🗓️

If you want a forecast of what we will do this year (2024), you need to hear about where we were just 16 months ago… Our team started 2023 in some of the most challenging circumstances of our careers: very little gear, one project in the pipeline, and a payroll we couldn’t afford. But we still had a dream and a vision for what could be, so we endured.

What did we do to overcome it? Nothing special… Just put our reputations and company on the line and:

• Launched a showreel.

• Started a docu-series on how we are building our company. The fails, the wins, and the lessons learned along the way.

• Started our newsletter (the one you’re reading right now)

• Posted every day for six months (on Mitch’s personal IG)

• Networked/Went to events

• Focused on building up the individuals on the team and developing their skill sets.

Building Our Studio 🚧

In 2023, we acquired the space for our cyc wall and podcast studios in Draper, UT. After five months of hard work and construction, the space is finished! These spots were built out by our very own Mike Every and Talmage Thayne, along with helping hands from friends, family, and the team. We are so proud of how it came together. This space has become a creative sanctuary for our team and clients alike. The possibilities for the type of content we can make due to all the control we now have is pretty mind-bending. We documented the building process and did an entire studio tour. Check it out below:

Podcasting, Open for Business 🚨

FilmLaab has previously exclusively worked in video production and photo space. We are over the moon with the new service that we are offering to businesses and entrepreneurs alike: podcast production and management.
